Wait By the Water EP

by Casey Stratton

/
1.
Wait by the Water Wait by the water Don’t take the pathway home It’s not much farther Than you can bear to go Tonight, an end in sight So wait by the water Don’t take the pathway home You lost a father I lost my favorite son Rallied much longer Than thought by anyone I know you had to go But I wanted longer You were my chosen one Here, just stay right here Don’t hide your eyes I want to see you understand me I am by your side Stay next to mine Stay on the ride I find you waiting Here in a midnight dream No longer aching No longer distancing from me Both of us free So I hold you near me If only in this dream
2.
Tears That Know Your Name One day I will trust myself This place I know too well These tears that know your name These fears of never being the same I tried, God knows I did I lied to myself about this Those years are never coming back These tears are all I will ever have Just give me strength to move I’ll do what I can to make it through I’ll live without you here When the dark clouds clear There will be you I see you everywhere I turn but no one is ever there These nights are the hardest part These lights are never bright enough I hope you understand I know I did everything I could But in the end time always wins So I must not give in
3.
It Hits Too Close Blood stains keep the wish down My demons have turned this smile to a frown I see you with your artist's soul Forget the thought of losing control It hits too close Gotta crawl up in a flower Like she said to But my heart charges by the hour Keep your own feelings, I'll keep mine I'm afraid of this setting free my insides Hold me back from this one Stop me, I'm holding the gun That can wound my foolish notions That maybe I won't feel these emotions It hits too close Gotta stop it at the door Like she said to But I think I want some more Keep your own saviors, I'll keep dying I'm afraid of this, I wasn't even trying
4.
Too Soon 05:01
Gone too soon In the month of June July was already filled with black Now you're that And all the time It was hiding in plain sight I never could have known How soon you would go Off you go Off you go to the moon Your brother too I'll wave to you Blow kisses to both of you It was too soon Way too soon I'm angry at the moon I'm angry with the moon Taking you both too soon You're far away But your light remains
5.
Watching the stars now, I think of you The moon says to see you in your place You deserve more than what I could ever be I fear night will take you away from me You've given me so much already Gotta tell you I feel kind of happy In summer I know you'll have to go And you will leave me all alone But I trust you, I know you It's clear that I love you I need you, I feel you, I see you Shine on, your light has warmed me Climb on, you've taken the hurt in me Ride on, your horses are waiting Fly on, my demons are leaving Rain has reminded me of yesterday When I told me I'd never feel this way You've smashed all my plans for the future So tell me is it really not gonna shatter?
