Looking Glass

Through a looking glass
Conjuring light so the dark will pass
Hidden behind a veil
A sign in the comet’s tail
And the sun unhinged
Moving toward Earth as the flowers singed
We tried to find somewhere safe
In the glass I saw my face
I was me, then you, then the white light turned to blue

Underground - we knew it was our final day
Still we tried to find another way
Our human nature wouldn’t change it
And the sounds of the screaming filled our souls with dread
There was only one fate ahead
Till we floated out of orbit then

In the looking glass
I was a girl in the cotton grass
I couldn’t remember you
Or what I was there to do
I was her, then me, then I was transported back to the scene

“It was only a dream, “ I said
“I just need to open my eyes.”
But try as I might I could not awake
I was caught in the spaces I made

So - I felt a little more
I opened wide the door
And called out to you
Saw destruction all around
And you could not be found
 I couldn’t find the truth
